Accounts Payable Specialist / Clerk

The Cumberland Plateau Water Authority is seeking a detail-oriented and dependable Accounts Payable Specialist / Clerk to join our administrative team. This position plays a vital role in maintaining accurate financial records and supporting the day-to-day operations of the organization.

Position Overview

This role is responsible for accounts payable processing, invoice management, and financial record support, while contributing to the overall efficiency of the administrative team. The ideal candidate is organized, trustworthy, and capable of managing multiple responsibilities with accuracy and professionalism.

Key Responsibilities
  • Process accounts payable, including invoices, approvals, and payments
  • Maintain accurate financial records and documentation
  • Reconcile vendor statements and resolve discrepancies
  • Assist with tracking expenses and preparing reports
  • Support general administrative and clerical functions as needed
  • Ensure compliance with internal controls and financial policies
Additional Responsibilities
  • Assist with employee onboarding processes
  • Provide support with benefit plan administration
  • Maintain confidentiality of employees and financial information
Qualifications
  • High school diploma or equivalent required; associate degree in accounting or related field preferred
  • Previous experience in accounts payable, bookkeeping, or administrative support preferred
  • Strong attention to detail and organizational skills
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office and accounting/billing software
  • Ability to handle sensitive information with discretion
  • Strong communication and teamwork skills

$90,000 - $115,000 a year - Full-time

The Chief Financial Officer is a key member of CPWA’s executive leadership team and is responsible for overseeing all financial functions of the Authority. This includes budgeting, accounting, financial planning, reporting, debt management, procurement oversight, and compliance with state and federal regulations.
